Three ideas
Today's three ideas I'd like to share:
1. Sleeping on the floor
2. Mason Jars
3. Waking up earlier
1. My boyfriend and I moved to Austin not so long ago so we've been sleeping on the floor with our Serta mattress. However, the longer we procrastinate to get a bed frame the more we enjoy our current sleeping conditions. Not only does it not hurt if you fall out of bed but the need for a side table is totally unnecessary because the floor is unlimited "desk space!". Right now our room just looks ugly. I've attached some photos that seem like great ideas.
Maybe not this girly for the boyfriend's sake |
2. Mason jars are just amazing. I stumbled upon this idea of using them for bathroom storage. Currently we have this awkward space above our toilet that I can't seem to do anything with. An art piece would just look forced, plus it might get soggy from the steam of the shower. This extra bathroom storage would not only look pretty but it would give me more space in my bathroom closet for other things! Yay!
3. Wake up 30 minutes early and force yourself to do something with that time. Not only will you feel like you have accomplished something but you will feel more awake for the rest of the day. It just puts that extra bounce in your step as you take on the world.
Cheers!
Alice
(Unfortunately I saved all of these pictures under one folder so I am not familiar where they belong to so I would be super helpful if those who know to help me find their source so I can give credit to where they are due)Tuesday, September 6, 2011
Two Outfits - Current Inspiration
Hellooooo,
I've been debating on getting a dog for so long now so I've been highly distracted which leads me to not be as inspirational. Unfortunately this leaks into my outfits. The weather is so hot here I've only used a couple summer staples. I don't have some of the items I pictured but you get the idea.
In addition, this outfit can easily go into nighttime since it is equally hot. People will look at you and think "Damn that girl looks down to earth and probably has a quality personality" :)
Cheers,
Alice

One thing - Job Hunting Advice
I do not have a full time job.. yet. Like most unemployed people I plan on having one in the near future. However, being in a new city makes this process tougher as most jobs are acquired through networking. I've met a lot of different individuals and they've all been incredibly helpful in my adjustment to this hot city life. So I feel that eventually things will fall together but right now I'm highly impatient. This must be one of those tests in life where I should be grateful with what I have now instead of hoping for something more.
Remember a job is not you. You have a life to live and having a job is just part of it.
Unemployed people (like myself) should be grateful
- for the skills they've built from job hunting - being able to cold call people, continuously throwing ourselves out there even when we just want to curl up from uncertainty. You have to keep on going!
- for their constant support from family members and/or friends (For me, I'm especially thankful to live with my caring boyfriend.)
- for those around me the many sunny days in Texas... always so comforting and optimistic
- for adulthood... despite being terribly afraid, we should be excited to see what's going to happen next and how we can improve our lives
Remember a job is not you. You have a life to live and having a job is just part of it.
Cheers,
Alice

Overwhelmed but happy
Here's the new schedule for my blog that I plan on implementing.
Monday - one advice
Tuesday - two outfits I love
Wednesday - three recipes you should try
Thursday - four songs I'm loving
Friday - 5 + random favorites
Let me know what you think and I'm willing to take any suggestions. I haven't painted in a while because my supplies have been locked up due to all of the moving.
Cheers,
Alice
